If your dive battery doesn’t appear to be charging properly, don’t worry—this guide will walk you through the most accurate ways to check your battery’s status and ensure it's functioning as intended.
How to Confirm Your Battery Is Fully Charged
The most reliable indicator of a full charge is the light on the charger itself:
Solid Green Light on Charger = Battery is fully charged
Red or Flashing Light = Battery is still charging
We recommend focusing on the charger’s light rather than relying solely on the vest or battery indicators.
Alternate Method: Check Using the Vest
You can also plug the battery into the vest and use the vest’s LED lights to get an idea of the charge level:
The vest will display 3 or 4 lights, depending on the battery's charge.
Keep in mind: The vest’s lights are supplemental and less accurate than the charger or battery indicators.
Charging Time Expectations
Typical full charge time: ~8 hours
First-time charge: May take longer (up to 24 hours)
If the battery doesn’t show 4 lights after 24 hours, continue to the next step.
What If the Battery Only Shows 3 Lights?
If the battery only shows 3 lights after extended charging:
The internal IC (intelligent chip) may be hypersensitive, causing it to under-report the charge level.
This does not affect performance or function.
Battery Capacity Test:
Remove the battery from the charger
Press the power button on the battery
If it’s fully charged, you should see all 4 lights illuminate
This test is the most accurate indicator of full capacity
