Heated gear has thin wires built into it. These wires heat up when a low electric charge is passed through. Heated clothing is designed to keep you warm and cozy, but not to get too hot. Wiring is separated by a waterproof membrane making them safe to use in damp conditions. Heated clothing is designed to be safe during regular use. It should not be submerged in water when on as this would damage the battery.
3 Volt / 5 Volt / 7 Volt Rechargeable Battery
These are the easiest to use and most common type of heated clothing and are powered by rechargeable batteries. The most popular items we sell are heated gloves, heated jackets, and heated socks.
Heated Gloves and Mittens
Heated gloves and mittens have a battery in each glove, and the temperature is controlled from either the battery or a button on the glove.
Check out our Heated Glove Guide for more information.
Heated Jackets and Vests
The wiring for the jackets and vests is concentrated in rectangular panels that focus the heat on fixed areas to heat your core. Most jackets and vests have one pad on the back and two pads on the front; one on each side of the chest.
The battery is typically stored in a pocket accessed from one of the exterior hand pockets.
Heated Socks and Footwear
We have a wide range of items to help warm up cold feet including heated socks, heated insoles, and heated slippers. We have insoles and socks which heat the toes as well as your entire bottom of your foot.
Check out our Heated Sock and Insole Guide for more information.
12 Volt
12V heated apparel is designed for use with motorcycles, ATV/UTV, and snowmobiles. These garments draw their power from the vehicle's battery. As these items use a higher voltage than heated apparel with rechargeable batteries, they are more powerful and heat a larger area at a higher temperature.
Any of the 12V items can be used as a single garment, but they are also designed to be used together. For example, most 12v heated jackets come with built-in power cords at the wrists to power heated gloves and at the ankles to power heated socks or insoles.
All 12V Heated Socks and Insoles
Most 12V motorcycle heated gear is intended to be used with an external controller for improved control and safety. If you have multiple items connected to one controller they will all be set to the same temperature. A dual controller will allow you to have different heat levels for each attached item.
Please check if the 12V item you are purchasing includes a temperature controller. If not, we strongly recommend that you purchase one, as without a controller the garment will be on full power all the time.
We also sell batteries for 12V clothing but due to the stronger performance, the batteries are bulkier than 7V batteries and do not last as long as 7V batteries on a single charge.
Heated clothing has been manufactured for decades. In that time, safety and efficiency of heated gear has increased greatly and we have hundreds of thousands of very happy (and warm) customers!
